We believe that preparing learners for their future goes far beyond achieving a qualification. Our curriculum combines vocational training, personal development, employability skills, Maths and English, mental health awareness and practical industry experience to support the development of confident, capable and work-ready individuals.
We offer Hair and Beauty qualifications from Level 1 through to Level 3, providing clear progression routes for learners at different stages of their education and career journey.
Learners are supported in developing their knowledge and practical abilities, beginning with the essential foundations of the industry and progressing towards more advanced techniques, greater independence and higher professional standards.
Our training places a strong emphasis on practical learning, allowing learners to develop their skills through hands-on experience while also building their understanding of areas such as health and safety, client care, consultation, professional conduct and working effectively within a salon environment.
Our Barbering provision gives learners the opportunity to develop specialist skills and knowledge for working within the barbering industry.
Alongside practical barbering techniques, learners develop important professional skills including consultation, communication, client care, hygiene, health and safety and maintaining professional standards.
Our aim is to help learners build both technical ability and the confidence required to progress within a professional barbering environment.
Supporting the whole person is an important part of our curriculum.
Our Level 1 Mental Health Awareness qualification helps learners develop a greater understanding of mental health and wellbeing. It encourages awareness, reduces stigma and helps learners recognise the importance of looking after their own wellbeing and supporting positive conversations around mental health.
These skills are valuable not only in everyday life, but also within the hair and beauty industry, where professionals work closely with people from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances.
Our Level 1 Employability Skills provision is designed to help learners prepare for the workplace and understand what employers expect from them.
Learners have the opportunity to develop essential transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, organisation, reliability, problem-solving and professional behaviour.
We want our learners to leave Glow Academy with more than technical knowledge. We want them to understand how to present themselves professionally, communicate confidently and become dependable and valued members of a workplace.
Strong Maths and English skills can make a significant difference to a learner's future opportunities, which is why they form an important part of our wider curriculum.
Where appropriate, learners can work towards Functional Skills or GCSE qualifications in Maths and Englishalongside their vocational studies.
We aim to make these subjects relevant to both everyday life and the workplace, helping learners understand how Maths and English skills can support them throughout their careers — from communicating with clients and managing appointments to understanding pricing, stock, measurements and running a business.
A key part of our approach is giving learners the opportunity to experience what working within the industry is really like.
Through our sister site, a fully functioning professional hair salon, learners can access valuable work experience hours within a genuine salon environment.
This provides an important bridge between classroom learning and employment. Learners can experience professional salon expectations, observe and work alongside industry professionals, develop their communication and client-care skills and become more comfortable within a working salon environment.
Real-world experience helps learners put their knowledge into practice while developing confidence, independence, professionalism and an understanding of the standards expected within the industry.
